Description

SWIB-Plus-3: SWIB (SWI/SNF complex B) domain present ubiquitously in many organism. In Plant and Chlamydia they are present as individual protein (Not embedded in a polypeptide). SWIB domain by itself has been implicated in chromatin remodeling. Plus3 domain by itself has limited number of highly conserved amino acids, among which three positively charged residues are present. Presence of these three residues gave the Plus3 domain its name. Plus3 domain by itself can bind to DNA substrates that are at least partially single-stranded with significant affinity. SWIB-Plus-3 is a unique class of protein the direct role of it is plant development have yet to be implicated.
