Description |
In most species, Nuclear Factor Y (NF-Y) transcription factors are present. They usually composed three subunits: NF-YA/HAP2, NF-YB/HAP3, and NF-YC/HAP5. This group of TF has been implicated in diverse developmental process from animal to plant.
Plant genes belonging to the NF-YA family encode putative TFs. NF-YA??s DNA binding domain, shares some homology with the CCT domain of the nuclear flowering time regulator CONSTANS (CO). NF-YA proteins are characterized by two domains one is a (A1) of 20 amino acids forming a putative alpha helix that appears to be crucial for the interaction with NF-YB and NF-YC. A second adjacent domain (A2) of 21 amino acids, separated from A1 by a conserved linker sequence, was shown to be required for specific DNA binding to CCAAT boxes.
