Description |
GRAS is plant-specific transcription factor family. The protein is named after the first three members: GIBBERELLIC-ACID INSENSITIVE (GAI), REPRESSOR of GAI (RGA) and SCARECROW (SCR). This group of TFs have a charged region between which has similarity to the basic domain of the basic?Cleucine zipper family of TFs. A second leucine heptad repeat is found toward the carboxyl terminus. . Since leucine heptad repeats have been demonstrated to mediate protein?Cprotein interactions, it is predicted that GRAS family of TF have both direct DNA binding and protein-protein interacting domain.
