Description

ETHYLENE INSENSITIVE3 (EIN3)/EIN3-like (EIL) transcription factors are unique to from plants. This group of TF integrates the ethylene and jasmonate response pathways via the ETHYLENE RESPONSE FACTOR (ERF) family of transcription factors. The N-terminal half of EIL group of TF is responsible for its DNA binding activity.
The structure determined by NMR of spectroscopy EIN3 identified presence of five ?-helices, packing into a novel fold dissimilar to any known DBDs. In the DNA binding domain it possesses a proline-rich region, where intramolecular contacts have features similar to those of the intermolecular interactions between the well-known SH3 or WW domains and proline rich peptides.
