Description |
The CHROMO (CHRromatin Organization MOdifier) domain is predominantly associated with chromatin modification complexes. A Chromo domain located near the amino terminus of a protein is called ??amino chromo?? or simple chromo domain when it is present in the carboxy terminus of a protein it is called ??chromo shadow?? domain. Chromo domain is present in Heterochromatin-associated protein 1 (HP1) protein in drosophila as well as in Arabidopsis. HP1 proteins is implicated in heterochromatin formation and gene silencing.
