Description

The ARID (AT-rich interaction domain) is an ancient DNA-binding domain that has been identified in all sequenced higher eukaryotic genomes, including plant. The ARID consensus contains ~100 amino acid residues. High mobility group (HMG)-box domain has been identified in a wide variety of eukaryotic DNA-binding proteins including transcription factors and subunits of chromatin remodeling complexes. Both HMG box and ARID DNA binding domain has been present together in some families appear to be specific for plants.
